Cricut Storage

Still Hoping Across the 50 I see..... Well, good! I have an awesome project I just couldn't wait to show you gals!
I absolutely LOVE this new storage container I just bought for my Cricut Carts. In keeping with some of our favorite projects, I saw this idea and added my own touch to it. I bought these amazing VHS containers that hold 20 VHS tapes at a thrift store for $2! I immediately knew I wanted to make file folders to make it easier for me to find my carts. I have 52 carts and sometimes it can get tough to find specific ones. I saw the idea for the file folders and "ding" went the lightbulb. This was perfect size, and since I bought 2 I can always expand in the future. Right now it houses my carts as well. Which is perfect.

I took a permanent marker and wrote on the tops what each cart was, then quickly whipped up this little plastic canvas divider. It keeps all the carts from moving around and falling over. The pink container I bought at Walmart for $2 as well. It will hold 50 carts (more if you don't use the divider). I cut the file folders out of "From My Kitchen" cartridge. I used Q,W, & E. Then I took small round letter stickers and adhered one to each. Easy! This took me less than an hour to complete. Eventually I want to make a cut from each cart and add it to the appropriate file folder to decorate them.
This is a really easy project that took me less than a few hours to complete and makes finding my carts much easier! I can't wait to go to my next big crop and show it off!

These have got to be my most favorite card set that I've made. I couldn't tell you the materials I used, but I can kinda guess which carts I used. I absolutely love this set and can't seem to part with it no matter how many times I've tried to talk myself into giving it away.

Hello Cupcake - Home Decor, Alphalicious
Cherry On Top - I can't seem to find this cut, but I know its a cricut cart
Yummy - Indie Art
One in a Melon - Doodlecharms
Sweet - Graphically Speaking

Feel free to lift all you want :)

Texas Is My Home

I am a Texan and Proud to be! I was born and raised here. I actually live in the TX Panhandle. Only left a handfull of times. But Texas is a really neat place to live. We have all kinds of climates here from tropical down by the gulf, wooded areas near dallas and lousianna border to dry up here in the panhandle and everything in between. We are the second largest state in the US after Alaska and the second most populated state after California. Main industries here are petrolium, cattle, farming, and oil in the gulf. The state bird is the Mocking Bird which is weird because we don't have many of them around here. There are more found in Oklahoma than here, LOL.
I live in Amarillo, TX. We are known as the Helium Capital of the world. It is very flat here. As you can see in the picture below, you can see for MILES! This picture is of Cadillac Ranch. It's located just outside of town. There is a man here named Stanley Marsh and does the weirdest things around town, including putting random signs in peoples yards. We have one in our yard that says "Ready, Set, Go!" They are EVERYWHERE! He also put in this cadillac ranch and has a boulder pool table on his property made of boulders and tree logs for pool cues. These are REAL cadillacs stuck in the ground and people can go out there and climb on them and write all over them.

We also are home to the second largest canyon in the US. This is located about 15 min outside of Amarillo. It's really neat to see all the different layers of history out there. There have been dinosoar bones found, there is still an old home dwelling that was dugout the side of a hill for people to look at, and every summer they put on a play called TEXAS that tells the history of the area. It's really neat!

The place I really want to visit is Greece. My husband and I are really into Greek mythology and would just die to get to spend a week in Greece. We're trying to plan for a trip for our 15th anniversary. I love the cultures there and the area is just BEAUTIFUL! I'm not sure I'd come home if we made it there, LOL. But this is def somewhere I want to go. The first thing I would do is spend one hour just sitting on the rocks taking it all in. The second? Swimming! Then check out the temples and eat some of the greek foods from there.
A close second is Rome. Just like greek mythology, we are also into the roman history. Not the myth's but the gladiator's and the origins of christianity, etc. I would love to walk the streets and just breathe in all that history.
Just a reminder, I am giving away blog candy for this blog hop! So hop on over to my main post here and leave me a comment. Be sure to also be a follower :)

These are a few necklaces that I made today. The green one and the black and white one belong to my best friend. She bought the green one and didn't like the colors the way they were so I changed a few things, added all the browns. The zebra cross was WAY too short so I extended it for her by adding the silver beads and large clear beads. I'm really hoping she likes them.

1st Ever Blog Hop

Hey all, I've decided to host my first blog hop. I participated in my first one a few months ago and loved it so much. I would like to up my follower count and meet some new friends. And what better way to do this than to host my own blog hop? If you are interested, please email me at scrappinkrista@yahoo.com and let me know what your web addy is so I can add you to the list. I don't think it will be a long one, probably will keep it to the first 11 (12 including me) that message me.
The theme...stamping! You can use any stamp (digi, acrylic, rubber, etc.) however you must be able to identify what it is (ie, house-mouse, paper studio) or where we can get it ourselves. Everything else is fair game.
The dates will be Fri. March 4th - Sun March 6th. I will have some major blog candy posted that friday morning that participants will have a chance to win. I hope you all will join me :)

I feel so bad that I don't remember where I found this free digi stamp. This is probably one of my favorites so far and I can't find the location. Still searching and as soon as I know I will def let you know. Hope you enjoyed the card.
*updated....I found the blog that I got this stamp from. You can find it here.

This little old guy just made me laugh when I saw him. He is a digi stamp from http://allgluedup.blogspot.com . And he was so much fun to color. This card is actually for my grandfather. His birthday is V-day and I'm always teasing him about being old. I think he's gonna like it though. Thanks for looking.

A little birdie...

I adore this digi stamp. I got it off www.cuddlybuddly.com . I'm a huge fan of digi stamps now. I can print a few copies of it and make all the mistakes I want until I figure out what I want to do. I can't believe how great the wings turned out. Thanks for looking :)

On a Wednesday Afternoon....

I absolutely love The Outlawz site. You can find them here. Everyday there's a new challenge, from cards, to sketches, to colors to use, to simplicity, and on and on. This was the Wednesday Sketch Challenge for this week.

As you can see it's intended for a card but I decided to use it on a layout instead. I used the kit from Walmart and the Storybook Cartridge on this layout. Thanks for looking :)

Challenge for Me

We've all heard and said it ourselves a thousand times.... "I have enough scrapbook supplies to open a store". Well, I'm in the same boat, and I'm not really in the position to buy anything right now. But when you see that really cute paper and that awesome new tool, you just can't help yourself. I really need to stop!!!
So I've challenged myself. The next big crop of mine is Feb 26th. I have a few blog hops between now and then and I'm really needing to use up what I have. Plus, I want to save some of my money so that I have some to really spend that weekend. Maybe I'll even be able to finally buy that Cuddlebug that I've really been wanting lately.
My challenge is simple.... for each project I make with using things only from my stash, I earn myself $ to spend. When I finish that particular project, I'll take the $ immediately and put it in my savings jar. So the price list is as follows....
Layouts $1
Cards $.25
Altered Project $2
Craft it Forward Completed Project $3
30 min of cleaning scrap space $2
This is just an idea, not sure if I'm gonna add anything in the future. I'm excited to get to scrapping now, because I'll be earning $ to spend on future projects! And hopefully by time the crop rolls around I will have completed all the "need to do's" and be able to spend some time on "want to do's".

Cupcake card

Wow, this Cricut Mag is so full of great ideas! I saw this card and couldn't help myself. The dimensional bottom was interesting. Never done something like that. I cut the card from Sweet Treats Cartridge. The bottom is just a straight strip that I punched a scalloped edge. This is going to be fun to give away!

Missing U.....

One of my favorite "basic" cards. I got this idea out of the new Card magazine. It was a pain to glue all those little letters down, will def do alpha stickers next time. But for now....I love it. And it was well worth it. This is getting donated to Operation Write Home.

Baby Boy

I just bought the new Cricut Magazine this week and OMG, I love it!!! So many great projects to do. My first out of the gate was this adorable baby card made from the Plantin Cartridge. Was so easy to make and I can't wait to give it to someone. This is the first time I made a "shaped" card. I never liked to because it was hard to figure out the folding. But this book showed me how to do a star and I can apply the same concept to other shapes. Oh, let the fun begin!
As I said, this card is made entirely from the Plantin Cartridge. I cut the star background at 5.5" and the argyle blue star at 5". Then the small green star was at 1.75". All three are the Roly Poly feature. The tag as well, which was cut at 1" tall. And "boy" was cut at 1.5". I inked all pieces with a light brown then adhered the button with red embroidery thread. I think this card took me about 8 min to make, and that was with all the cutting as well!

Copic Card....Princess

I'm loving my copic markers today. Colored this yesterday while I was at work and while I'm not a huge fan of this card, I adore this image. It's another free digi stamp from someone on photobucket. You can get it here. Again I will try to list the markers I used, but I completely forgot to write them down before putting them away yesterday.
Materials used:
Copics B02, B04, G85, G82, G24, V15, V17,
E00, E02, R04, YR14, Y15, Y17, Y19
White, Yellow, Purple Cardstock
Striped paper from Colorbook
Brown ribbon

Copic Card...Friends Like You

Here's my first project of the day. I decided to break out the copics and make a cute card. I would list all the markers that I used but I completely forgot to write them down before putting them away and I have no idea which one's I used. I'll list as many as I remember. I think this is the first time I used thread on a card. And def the first time I've done X stitching. I love it! Little bit of a time consumer but well worth it. Now I know why my best friend likes to do it all the time. The digi stamp is from www.cuddlybuddly.com in the freebie section. I just adore this stamp and there are many others to choose from. Check them out :)

Materials Used:
Copics B000, B00, BG13, BG15, YR12, YR14, YR18, Y15, Y19, E00, E02, E37, E33, G85, G24, BV09, BV17, R04, R11, R14, and Colorless Blender.
White, Brown, Yellow Cardstock
Stamp from Stampabilities
Red Embroidery Thread

OMG, it's a saturday and I have NOTHING planned! And bygolly I want to scrapbook! So, I'm hosting an impromptu blog hop this morning. It's for one day only (unless you want to carry it until tomorrow, which is completely fine and completely up to you). I am not giving out blog candy or anything, and whether or not you want to will be up to you entirely. This is more about scrapbooking for me and inviting friends to join in....not about winning blog candy. If you are interested in playing, please be ready to post a project (can be ANYTHING) at 8 a.m. Central time, that's in less than an hour. Email me at scrappinkrista@yahoo.com with your email and your blog address so I can add you to the list. I'll post the list here at 8 a.m. so we can hop all day. Hope you'll join in :)

Since joining the Craft it Forward crusade, I have taken on many "to do's". My project for Jan/Feb was to post to facebook that the first 5 people to reply would get something "handmade" from me. This is my first project. This is a family that I had the honor of photographing a few weeks ago. I thought an album of her freshly taken photographs would be a treasure. Something she can show off to all her family and friends. I can't wait to give it to her.

Fair 2010

I know this is kinda out of season but hey, its here! I actually made the page 4 months ago and just now printed and added the photos. I really like it. Sorry they uploaded backwards. I meant them to be in reverse.

I pop dotted the photos to make them stand off the ferris wheel a little more.

I used Summer Vacation Cricut Cart and Plaintin Schoolbook Cricut Cart. I can't wait to show it off at the next cricut class.
