Cricut Class

After many months of people asking when I'm going to host a cricut class I have finally decided, now's the time! My first class will be Sunday, Sept. 25th at 1 p.m. Location TBA (need to know how many people are interested first). The cost is $20 and covers all materials needed (except tools). And as a special for trying out the first month, sign up with a friend and both of you will get $5 off the first class!

The class will focus on ONE specific cartridge each month and you'll have a whole month notice to get the next cartridge if you do not already have it and want to participate. If you wanna share with someone, that is fine too, however it is better if you have your own machine and cart.

Each class we will make 2- 12x12 layouts (one double, one single) and two cards. I will also share tips and give handouts that will have more ideas to use with that particular cartridge. If you do not want to attend the class, but want to purchase just the handouts, they are available AFTER the class date for $2.

The first cartridge we will explore is a must have.... Plaintin Schoolbook! If you do not have this cart, George & Shapes will work as well since we will be going on a lot of basics and using shapes that are on both carts. If you do not have either and don't have someone you can borrow it from or share with at the class, they do sell it on Ebay starting at $15 and up! That's very reasonable.

All night crop completed....

This is one of my favorite pictures and when I found this journaling in a print advertisement booklet I knew exactly which photo I was going to use. This is my daughter and my grandmother (her great grandmother). I'm very lucky to have been able to spend as much time as I have with my grandmother and that my kids have gotten to know her. The paper is from Creative Memories and was part of our goodie bags from last night! So stinkin' cute!

As you can see, I spent some time on my daughters photos last night. This sketch is from scrapbooks etc magazine and I'm so happy with the way it turned out. Love these colors.

Willow and her ball. These butterflies were just perfect for her so I created this page around them :) The journaling was an interesting addition. I wanted to use this really skinny journal strip down the side of the page but it's much too small to do any kind of real journaling. SOOOOOO, I just picked 10 words that came to mind when looking at the photos and accented a few of them. There are perfect for her.

And last, Cam my handyman :) I've had these photos for over a year now and I had no idea what to do with them. When I had them printed from walmart I had a border added so that I didn't have to distress them myself. This made it extra difficult when making my page cause i didn't want to crop any of the photos. Had to leave the borders on. I think it turned out great though. I used "boys will be boys" cart on this for the hammer, screwdriver, and arrow font. I can't wait to show it to Cam, he's going to love it.

Give

Give, Day 5 of the festival and the word is Give. One of the things I love to give is the gift of a song. I sing to my kids when they are sad or hurt, or when it's bedtime. I sing to my husband sometimes in the most obnoxious ways, LOL. And a few years ago when my sister graduated high school and I didn't have a dime to spend on a grad present, I sang to her a song about family and people always being there. I feel it meant more to her than anything I could have picked up in a store cause it was from my heart. So, here's my page about "give".

Less

Day 3 and I'm cruisin' right along just fine. Even had time to make my title page :) Still haven't figured out how I'm going to tie it all together in an album but hey, I'm still cruisin' aren't I? Our word today is "less" and at first I went HUH? then WHAT? then AHA! Sorry for the blurry photos, I was in a hurry and didn't realize they were so blurry when I took them.

Journaling on "less" tag..... One thing about growing up in a family of 6 was that there was always "less". Less money, less clothes, less room, less tme to yourself, less food left, less of much, much more. However, compared to the other things, we never had less love, less laughter, less people to talk to, less of the little things. I'm so happy & blessed to have shared my life a little "less" with awesome people.

Wonder

Day 2 in the 12 day Festival! And the word is Wonder :) Immediately I knew I what I like to wonder about. Then puzzle came to mind, why not use PUZZLE PIECES for my title!!! Then I wanted to add photos but because this is a 6x6 there wasn't much room. So I added a mini album to my mini page, bwahahahaha! Love the way this turned out.

I painted the puzzle pieces a light yellow and added a brown streak to age them a little. Then my mini album is cut to 2.5" wide and folded accordian style to add my 3 photos. Super easy!

Life In the Week of.... ME!

I just joined an awesome class over at the Big Scrapbook Ideas website called "A Week in the Life of...." and as you can see, I switched the title around. Totally didn't mean to but this is what I've been calling it all weekend, LOL.

This class is FREE and it's focused around creating an album about an entire week of mine. I get to list the highlights of what my schedule is, interesting things that occured, and photograph it along the way. After the week is over, we all create an album and share.

So, each day I'll be carrying my little notepad around, jotting down the different things I did and such. Super excited! Will definately post an update of the album when I'm done.

Borders Container

I always have the hardest time letting go of these long, skinny strips and borders that come in my kits. But there is no way to store them. Every thing I've tried just doesn't work and when I get ready to use that perfect border on my page, it's bent! Ruined! So I end up throwing them away. I found this amazing idea online (can't remember where, sorry).

I took an empty paper towel roll and covered it in paper. Added a ribbon handle and title and BAM, it was done. I love it. Planning to make another so I can put solids in one and pp in the other, yes, I have that many of these borders!

I saw a LO like this online a few weeks ago and couldn't wait to try it! This was so much fun to make. All cuts were made from the "Freshly Picked" cartridge. The Gnome was cut at 4.5 ", I stitched his shirt with a black pen and decided to add the same to the belt, shoes, and hat. The flowers are cut at 3.5" and the mushrooms are 3" tall. The font is from "Opposites Attract" cartridge and was cut at 1.5". I can't wait to add photos of my daughter to it with her cousin. Thanks for looking.

A few 4th of July Projects

I found this idea on the eighteen25 blog,http://eighteen25.blogspot.com/ . and thought it would be perfect for the kids to do while the food is cooking. My kids made this one and the next one my neice and nephews made. They had so much fun.

I found this idea on lisa storms blog, http://lisastorms.typepad.com/. You can find it here. She has great ideas. The only hard part about this project was finding only red ring pops. We ran around walmart digging them all out.

This one, my son decided he wanted stars on his head. So, I gave them to him. It was interesting and took about an hour to do both sides and the mohawk but I finally got it cut out just right. He just loved running around and showing it off.

Stars & Stripes & Accessorizing

Made a few necklaces over the past few days. Love the way these have turned out. Going to sell 2 of them and keep one. Which one? Not sure. I'm kinda partial to the "out of the norm" necklace with the blue on one side and a star charm hanging. Very....... ME!

All in a days crafting...

This morning I got up feeling a TON better than the previous week. So, this meant CRAFT TIME! I discovered a Craft it Forward Blog Hop was in progress so I jumped in and made a few projects today. I'm totally happy with EVERYTHING I did today. Haven't felt this satisfied with my crafting since the last major crop I went to. Aside from this 100% Boy page, all these projects are dedicated to my Craft It Forward mission and will be donated to a certain somebody (who will remain nameless until they receive them). I can't wait to show them what I've been working on! Hope you get as inspired as I did today! Craft on my peeps.

This layout is a 12x12 and of a photo of my oldest son several years ago. I just love this photo because he still has his baby cheeks which he no longer has :( The title is from my brand new cartridge "boys will be boys" and it fit him perfectly.

This was the first time I had tried a banner. It was....interesting.

But I think it turned out way cute and think I'll be doing them more often. A great way to use up scraps.

I've been wanting to do a flower pot with 3-d flowers for a LONG time. So glad I finally got around to it today. These were a pain in the rear but I'm super happy about how much they pop off the page! This stamp is the sentiment inside.

I found these really cute paper flowers with button centers at Hobby Lobby a while back and just fell in love with them. These were an easy card to whip up and the 3-d buttons just make it that much faster. Very, very cute.

I loved this "smile" cut so much that I just HAD to carry it over onto a layout. I hadn't planned to cut it this big however, but when you press cut and walk away then come back to this size... you change your plans. I love the way it turned out though. And these cards? So fun! The texture plates were a blast to pound on, of course Heath didn't like the noise too much during his movie, OOPS, LOL.

This card is actually for a certain somebody of mine who will be turning 6 this summer. She even helped me make it and has NO idea it's hers! Willow kept saying, "Awe, that's so cute." and "Whoever gets this should hang it on their wall." Well, I'm thinking we just might!

Home

It's finally done! This is my first home decor item I've made for my new house. I have framed it in a 10x13 black frame with a white mat around it. For now it is on my mantel but eventually it will go on the wall by the dining table. I scraplifted from THIS blog, eighteen25. This blog is my new fave of the week and a must when checking up on my daily buzz. I'm thinking of making a few more to go with this sign and do a series type thing. But for now, here's what I got! Enjoy!

Oh the Woes of Being Busy

As some of you know I have started a new job and while it was meant to be part time, it has turned into full time now. I absolutely LOVE my job but it doesn't leave too much time for crafty things. My holiday is Favorite Things! I got the idea while watching Oprah's Favorite Things one year and ding went a light bulb. I wanted to do something with all my closest friends and came up with the idea of a Favorite Things Party.

Every year I invite my closest friends and we gather at my house. Everyone brings something that is their FAVORITE THING. Whether it be a candle, stationary, toe socks, fingernail polish, etc. They bring one for everyone. During the party we share why its our favorite thing and have a ton of stuff to take home at the end of the party! Everyone looks forward to it every year.

This year I've decided to do something a little different. We're doing our favorite things in the kitchen. They are all bringing their favorite dish to share with everyone AND an item to use in the kitchen. Here is the invite that I'm sending out. I can't wait to get together with all my gals.

Papaw's Shop Sign

This was a project towards my Craft it Forward 2011. I made this for my father who recently just built his shop. I knew he would love something to hang in there. I found the quote at Hobby Lobby on one of their metal signs and knew it was perfect. Using Plantin Schoolbook and Modgepodge this sign was whipped up in a jiffy. I started with an old wooden plaque I found at a thrift store for $.50. I sanded it slightly so the paint would adhere, then painted it with two coats of chocolate brown. I cut the letters all from Plantin. "Papaw's shop" is roly poly and the rest is tall ball. Then I cut the tree landscape out of green textured cardstock. You have to work quickly with modgepodge and in short sections so I pasted down each line one at a time. After everything was pasted down and dried I put two more coats of modgepodge on the top to make it really durable. My dad LOVED it! Now I need to make my mom one for her kitchen.

I can Write!

I saw this idea in a magazine for leftover alpha stickers. Take ANY diecut and FILL it with letters. Genius! Their version had a lot of different colors but I wanted something simple so I took red epoxy stickers and placed them on the red cardstock. I love the way it turned out. It was a quick easy way to add dimension to something that looked a little bland. I used Plantin Schoolbook for the apple, scallops, and fonts. I can't wait to add pics :)
